Gender equality
UNDP considers gender inequality to be one of the main factors hindering human development. Despite many efforts at local, national and international levels, women and girls continue to face discrimination. Gender discrimination and inequality violate the human rights of both women and men and have an impact on the well-being of all children. Understanding gender discrimination will not only enable us to better help women and children realize their human rights, but also better understand other inequalities such as age, race or class.

Gender Stereotyping
Sex stereotypes refer to society's inherent expectations of gender roles and qualities (e.g. men should be strong and women should be weak). Hong Kong is influenced by traditional Chinese culture, and the concept of favoring boys over girls is deeply rooted. Judging from current international indicators, Hong Kong society's feminist awareness and gender equality have indeed developed and progressed, but the problem of gender inequality still exists.
